Sphero Golfing

​Year 4 have been busy problem solving, persevering and collaborating effectively – all whilst having so much fun with their learning!  Their challenge was to create a new golf hole with obstacles. They were required to create algorithms (code) using the app Sphero Edu, to successfully navigate their Sphero around the obstacles and to the hole.  Students followed a Design Cycle and made decisions around their choices.  Some student discoveries included - the need to increase the speed of the Sphero to go over particular ramps and obstacles, slowing their Sphero to navigate tight corners, and problem solving how many seconds and the angles the Sphero’s needed to travel in to follow particular paths.  Students relied on the last element of the design cycle often – Highlight and Fix.
