The Library and Information Technology Centre is modern, spacious, fully air conditioned and equipped with the latest in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The Library and Information Technology Centre is home to a computer lab incorporating 30 computers for whole class access.  Teachers use the integrated data projector, screen and speakers to demonstrate new applications, effective internet use and ICT skills.

The computer lab is capable of showing computer and DVD presentations to a large audience.  Classes are timetabled in the lab on a weekly basis.  The lab is also used at lunchtimes by student computer clubs including Code Club and Robotics.

The Library also stores digital equipment and devices for in-class use including iPad class sets, student laptops, digital cameras, video cameras and microscopes, microphones, MP3 players, data projectors, laptops, voice recorders and gaming consoles.  Classroom iPads and accessories are distributed by the library staff.

The Library is home to a large collection of children’s literature, information books and teacher resources.  Use of the library provides all children with the opportunity to develop information skills and a love of literature.  All classes have weekly timetabled borrowing times.  Children can also borrow library books independently as often as they wish.

Students in prep and year 1 may borrow two books at one time.  From year 2 all students may borrow four books at one time.  These borrowing limits allow students to progressively explore and become familiar with a range of resources from different sections within the library.  Students are introduced to a variety of genres and book formats including picture books, first chapter books, novels, graphic novels, puzzles and information books.  Additionally, senior students have access to a senior fiction section which includes literature suitable for young adults.  Students are able to access this section in year 6.  All loans are for two weeks but students may renew loans for an extended period of one to two weeks if required.

Our collection of resources reflects the needs of the school.  These resources are linked directly to the curriculum including information for school activities and assignments.

Our books are chosen to cater for a wide variety of children’s interests and abilities. We have a large collection of age-appropriate information books as well as the latest popular fiction books.  Our extensive junior fiction collection boasts ‘old favourites’ as well as new books, which we encourage children to read and share with their parents.

The library design, layout and furniture were carefully selected to cater for the various age groupings from prep to year 6.  The use of bright, lively colours and clever furniture design, make the library child-friendly and appealing to all ages.
