We have
very high expectations for each child at Ascot State School. Education is
highly valued by our parent community who have high aspirations for each
child.
Our vision
is for happy students learning together to grow and succeed. Often termed motivational or non-cognitive factors, the psychology of the
student includes students’ beliefs about themselves, their feelings about
school, or their habits of self-control. Whilst many schools focus on the
curriculum, the academic content and students’ intellectual processing of that
material, there is a wealth of research that clearly shows that this is
insufficient.
Our
students perform well in literacy and numeracy and in the National
Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). This is testament to the highly-skilled and dedicated
teaching team who ensure every child is making at least a year’s progress in
their learning.
The Ascot
Music Program is highly valued and continually achieves excellence in local
competitions. In 2022, the Senior Concert Band was awarded gold at
Fanfare and at the Music Fest.
Students
also have the opportunity to participate in a myriad of programs including
student council from Year 4; playground buddy system; debating;
optiminds; Tech Girls; STEAM week activities; Lego League;
Art Club; Book Week competitions; Ascot’s Got Talent; Maths
Enrichment; Chess; Before-School Reading Program; City
Cluster based student development programs such as
Mini-Thinkers.
We pride
ourselves on offering ‘something for everyone’.
