On the 24th of May, 1920, 124 pupils were admitted to Ascot State School in five class levels. This photograph was taken on the 1st October, 1921.

Ascot State School provides high-quality education for girls and boys from Prep to year 6. The school is located in the inner-city suburb of Ascot, approximately seven kilometres from the centre of Brisbane. The school has an outstanding reputation for excellence in academia, sports and the Arts.
Ascot is proud of its rich history, traditions and strong school spirit which have been embraced by generations of local families and new members of the Ascot community. The school consistently achieves high standards in literacy and numeracy.
Ascot State School has previously received the following awards for Excellence in Teaching and Learning:
- 2014 Showcase Regional Winner - Excellence in Leadership;
- 2013 Showcase Regional Winner and State Finalist - Excellence in the Early and Primary Years: Reading; and
- 2012 Showcase Regional Winner - Academic Success.
Ascot’s extensive Music Program includes three concert bands – senior, intermediate and junior, string ensemble, brass ensemble and senior and junior choirs. Events occur annually where we feature performances from the school bands, choir and individual students.
The Physical Education program has strong athletics and swimming components and is supported by an active parent-run Swimming Club. Students in years 4 to 6 can choose from a selection of sports to play at district gala days and may participate in district selection trials for cross-country, athletics, netball, softball, cricket, hockey and AFL.
There is a strong community support for Ascot State School. Working beside the P&C Committee is a Swimming Club, Tuckshop Committee, Uniform Shop, Welcome Group, Physical Environment Group, Health and Wellbeing Group, Friends of Music Group and Friends of Visual Arts and Design. The school and P&C employ a School Community Liaison Officer whose tasks include coordinating activities with the Class Parent Representatives who support each classroom teacher. Parents are represented on the School Advisory Council.
