Welcome to Prep at Ascot State School
Prep is an exciting time
for you and your child. Prep is the
first year of schooling and is a fulltime compulsory program, from Monday to
Friday from 9.00am to 3.00pm.
The early years of
learning are among the most significant periods of growth for children.
Experiences during this time not only affect cognitive, social and physical
development, but also deeply influence dispositions to learning and children’s
views of themselves as learners.

The Education (General Provisions) Regulation 2006 enables principals to
consider early entry to Prep for children who turn five
years by 31 July.
It should be emphasised
standard Prep entry cut-off date remains 30 June in the year a child enters
quality kindergarten program in the year before Prep is the best education
option for all children
entry for July-born children should be by exception only, where it is in
the best interests of the child. An Early entry to Prep application form is available online.
Enrolment Information Evening for Prep Year 2021
Monday 10 August 2020 at 6.00pm - 7.30pm - ONLINE
Families enrolling their children in Ascot State School for Prep 2020 are invited to attend our Prep Information evening on Monday 10 August 2020 online. Parents will be emailed a link closer to the date. This session is for parents only and will consist of information from our Principal, Ms Gayle Coleman and our Early Years Deputy Principal, Ms Cindy Keong.
If you still require enrolment forms please collect these from our office after this date for the 2021 school year.
Orientation Days for Prep 2021
Prep Orientation Day 1: Tuesday 10 November 2020
Prep Orientation Day 2: Thursday 12 November 2020
(Prep Orientation days give our new students a chance to meet their teacher and some of the other students who will be in their class the following year. We are asking all parents and students to meet at the junior eating area located near the sculpture garden and wait for instructions.
While the Prep students are in their classrooms we ask that parents meet in the school hall where there will be information stalls set up to help assist parents for their child's transition into school).

Prep welcome BBQ is organised by the current Prep parents to welcome our 2021
Prep students and parents.
